One of the most appalling accidents
that ever occurred to any citizen of
this community, resulted in the almost
instant death of Geo. Houlsworth
on Friday last on the farm of John
Winston, southeast of town a little
over a mile. He was stacking hay
when the poles erected for the pulleys
and harpoon fell with a sudden crash,
striking him on the head without
second's, warning. He never saw or
heard them, while falling and conse
quently never knew his danger or what
hit him. His widowed mother resides
almost opposite this office, whither his
lifeless body was borne on Friday at
about noon. The funeral occurred on
Sunday.
