Mr. Albert a Pinney, who for forty-eight
years has heen a resident of
Elgin, passed to the Great Beyond
Saturday, July 29, after an illness
that extends over a period of years,
but until a year ago he was able to
be about and attend to his work. For
most of the past year he has been tenderly
cared for in the home of his
brother Elmer and family.
Deceased was born at Lowell, Massachusetts,
February 11, 1849, and was
seventy-three years old at the time of
death, which was caused by a general
breakdown and kidney trouble. When
a young man he went to New York,
and from that city he came to Elgin
which has since been his home. By
occupation he was a stone mason and
brick layer and this trade he plied
until unable to work longer. He was
a man of good habits and for many
years had been a member of the Odd
Fellow Lodge which society, although
not in form, attended the funeral, and
six of his brother Odd Fellows carried
the remains to their last resting place.
Mr. Pinney is survived by three
sons, Guy, of Kansas City, Kansas;
Ray, of Ellensburg, Washington; Alden,
of Benton, Missouri; one daughter
Alice Mason, of British Columbia; one
brother, Elmer, of Elgin; two sisters,
Mrs. James Riles of Muscatine, and
Mrs. Matt DeSart, of West Union, together
with many other relatives and
friends.
Funeral services were held July 30
from the Baptist church, Rev. Ph.
Lauer officiating and interment was
