Mrs. Belle Pinney of Benton, Mo.,
died at her home Thursday evening,
March 22, after an illness of two and a
half weeks. Her death was caused by
bronchial pneumonia and complicating :
organic heart trouble. The. body was
brought to Elgin Saturday evening
and burial made in the cemetery here
on Sunday morning at nine o'clock.
Mrs. Belle (Nutting) Pinney was
bom April 17, 1854, at Ehzabethtown,
Indiana, and was the only-child of
Royal and Mary A. Nutting. She
was married to Albert Pinney who
died here at Elgin several years ago.
The surviving members of the family
are a son and daughter, Alden
Pinney of Benton, Mo., and Mrs. Effie
Gayle of Beach Grove, Indiana. Besides
these there are two grandchildren
and the Pinney relatives of Elgin.
While a resident of Elgin, Mrs. Pinney
made many close friends with
whom she kept in touch even after
twenty years absence from the town.
While here she was active in church
work, being a Sunday school teacher in
the old frame Methodist church and,
was a steward in the church when
Clermont and Elgin were on a circuit.
She also continued in this work after
leaving Elgin.
In 1907 she left Elgin for Alma, Nebraska,
where she lived three years and then
moved to Benton, Mo., which has been
her home since.
The funeral was held at the Elgin
cemetery Sunday morning with Rev.
Ph. Lauer of the Baptist church
officiating. It was a beautiful day and
many of the friends of the deceased
were present to pay their respects to the
