Funeral services for Glen Knapp, 87, were held Saturday, April 23, at 2 p.m. in Bethel Presbyterian Church with Rev. Carl R. Stoldt officiating. Committal service was at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Burnham and Wood Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Glen died Thursday, April 21, 1994 at Oelwein Care Center, Oelwein.

Glen Knapp was born May 24, 1906 to Frank and Grace Knapp in Auburn Township, Fayette County, Iowa. He was raised and educated in West Union.

On Feb. 18, 1924 he was united in marriage to Hazel Smith of Elgin. Five children were born to this union. Glen and Hazel farmed near West Union and in 1956 moved to town where Glen was self employed in the plumbing and heating business until his retirement. He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church.

Preceding him in death were his wife Hazel; three daughters, Helen, Arlene and Betty Ruroden; a sister, Myrtle Marie; a brother, Millard, and a half brother, Gilbert McElree.

He is survived by a daughter, Katherine Ewing, West Union; a son, Gerald Knapp, Des Moines; one brother, Donald Knapp, West Union; one sister, Inez Chapman, Austin, Minn.; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
