Helen Heins Olson died Tuesday, Dec. 29 in the Good Samaritan Center, Postville.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 31, 1987 at 2 p.m. in the Schutte Funeral Home, Postville. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
Helen Heins Olson, daughter of William and Minnie (Lange) Heins, was born June 2, 1898 in Clayton County, IA. She was baptized July 24, 1898 and confirmed March 31, 1912, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville.
March 5, 1921 she was married to O. Alfred Olson in St. John Lutheran Church, Dubuque. They lived in Clermont for 2 years, then moved to Waterloo until 1955 when they returned to Postville.
For many years, Helen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Waterloo. When she moved back to Postville, she became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, who died in 1963, her parents, 2 sisters, Ida in infancy and Lucy Gericke, a niece, Clinda Gericke Meyer, 2 nephews, Milo and Cloy Gericke and a great nephew, Johathan Garwin.
Surviving is a sister, Celia Sander, Postville, a niece, Helen Garwin, Des Moines, two great-nieces, Ramona Everman, Postville and Lynette Patterson of Matthew, NC and a sister-in-law, Esther Olson, Waterloo.
Casket bearers were Robert Heckmann, Larry Schultz, Paul Olson, John Gericke, Hall Everman and Virgil Martins.
