Clifford "Cliff" Albertson 1926-2009

Clifford Maatthew Albertson

Clifford Matthew Albertson was born January 5, 1926, in Cresco, Iowa to Emma (Balk) and Alfred Albertson. After a lengthy illness, he passed away September 28, 2009.

Cliff served his country as a member of the United States Marines in the Pacific Area from 1944 - 1946 and was honorably discharged. Cliff bought hogs and sold feed in the Lime Springs area for many years. In 1976 Cliff and Dora Lee Medberry Landswerk were united in marriage. He did custom farm work and drove truck in the Lime Springs, Cresco and Elgin areas and was always ready to help where needed.

Fishing and deer hunting with family and friends were favorites of Cliff's. In later years Cliff especially enjoyed mushroom hunting and going to the local coop to socialize with his friends. Cliff was a member of the American Legion Post 352 and St. Paul's Methodist Church in Elgin.

He is survived by his wife, Dora Lee of Elgin; mother-in-law, Dorothy Medberry of West Union; son, Robert (Becky) of Ohio; step-children, Karen Webster (Mike), Elma, Gary Landswerk (Anne) of Spring Valley, Jane (Joe) Truka of Lime Springs, and Joan Landswerk (Lyle) of Cresco; two brothers, Ervin (Norma) of Tama, and Bud (Alice) of Iowa City; two sisters, Luella (Paul) Guillaume of Loyal, Wisconsin and Emma Jean (Herb) Pfiffner of Dunkerton, many grandchildren,
step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Cliff was preceded by his parents, a daughter, Jean; sister, Angeline Heirmermann; and grandson, Brian Albertson.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 2, 2009, at 11:00 a. m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Elgin, Iowa. The Rev. Rick Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Elgin Cemetery, Elgin, Iowa.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2009, from 5-7 p.m. at the Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elgin, Iowa, and one hour before services at the church on Friday.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elgin, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
