Randolph "Randy" Reierson
Randolph "Randy" Reierson, 90, Elgin, Iowa, died Friday, September 25, 2009, at Maple Crest Manor, Fayette, Iowa, following a brief illness. Randy was born on January 27, 1919, Marion Township, Gunder, Iowa, to Louis and Alvina (Wold) Reierson. Randy graduated from Clermont High School in 1938.
He was united in marriage to Virginia Fedeler at the Methodist Church in Hawkeye, Iowa, on January 2, 1955. Three children were born to this union. Randy farmed his entire life in the Gunder and Elgin areas. In later years, he retired and moved to Elgin. Randy also worked for Farm Service Agency climbing bins measuring sealed corn for many years.
Randy enjoyed giving his grandchildren rides in his truck and when he wasn't busy on the farm, you could find him playing cards at the Quarry Lodge. Randy seemed to always know where the mushrooms were at. He was a longtime bowler and loved dancing with his favorite partner, Ginny.
Randy was a Township Trustee from 1991-2002, Farm Bureau member from 1945-1995 and a lifetime member of Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder. Randy will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.
Survivors include three children, Brian (Deb) Reierson of Storm Lake, Karen (Carey) Mollenhauer of Marion, Brad (Kristie) Reierson of Elgin, seven grandchildren, Cory (Robin) of Ames, Staci (Chad) of Olathe, KS, Darren of Rhode Island, Darice (Kevin) of Center Point, Ryan of Phoenix, AZ, Ashley and Blake of Elgin, two great-grandchildren, Terra and Taegan, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one sister, Marjorie Paulsen.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at 11:00 am at Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder. The Rev. Marshall Hahn will officiate. Burial will follow in the Elgin Cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2009, from 4-8 p.m. at the Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elgin and one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.
