Charles John Miller
HAWKEYE (Special) — Charles
John Miller, 75, was born in Bethel
Township, Fayette county
June 29, 1893. He was the son of
Edward and Ella (Wickam) Miller.
He attended Bethel No. 3 rural
school and Hawkeye High school
He was baptized and became a
member of the Hawkeye Seventh
Day Adventist church May 26
1914.
He was a veteran of World War I,
having served in France.
On Dec. 7, 1921 he married Elva
Mae Roser. They farmed in the
Hawkeye vicinity until the fall of
1928 when they moved to Cedar
Rapids, where he was employed
at the Link Belt Speeder Manufacturing
Co. until 1959 when he
moved to Redding, Calif. His wife
died there in August, 1964.
He died at the Good Samaritan
Center on Nov. 7.
He is survived by six sons, Earl
of Cedar Rapids, Ralph and George
of Redding, Calif; Donald of Ketejikan,
Alaska; Charles Jr. of Mt.
Vernon; and Wayne of Cedar Rapids;
two daughters, Mrs. Don
(Jena) Albert of Evansdale, Mrs.
Joe (Jane) Dullard of Bondurant;
one brother, Fred of Hawkeye;
two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Maude)
Fuller of Seaton, Ill., and Mrs. Elmer
(Mary) Hillsinger of New
Hampton; 19 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, his parents, and one sister,
Mrs. Vera Kuepper.
Services were held Sunday, Nov 10
at 2 pm at the Emerson Funeral
Chapel in Hawkeye. Burial
was at Redding, Calif, with Emerson
Funeral Home in Hawkeye
in charge of the arrangements.
