Albert or Alfred Bell 1836-1890

DIED -
Sunday, August 31st, 1890, at the
home of his sister in Hazleton, Albert
Bell, aged 53 years, 8 months and 27
days. Mr. Bell had been failing rapidly
in health for the past year or more,
and had been very low for some time.
About four weeks ago he went to Hazleton
to visit a sister, where he became
too ill to he removed and it was here
that he died. Mr. Bell was born m
Licking county, Ohio, and in early
youth removed with his parents to Illinois.
Ten years ago he came to Iowa
and settled on his farm near Oelwein,
where he remained until about two
years ago, when he moved to Oelwein
and engaged in the mercantile business,
but later sold out on account of
his failing health. He was a good man
and a representative citizen, and an
honored member of the Ancient Order
of United Workmen and of the G. A.
R. Post. The funeral was held from
the house Tuesday, at 2 p. m., .Rev.
Cook officiating, and the burial was
conducted under the auspices of the
orders before mentioned. The esteem
in which he was held was attested by
the large attendance at the funeral
and by the sincere feelings of regret
expressed at his death. He leaves a
wife and daughter, besides other relatives
and numerous friends to lament
his death.

Hazleton News -
Alfred Bell of Oelwein, came down
to visit his brother-in-law, S. C. Sander,
four weeks ago last Sunday, and
asked to stay just four weeks, and
died at the end of the appointed
time. His remains were taken to
Oelwein on Tuesday for burial, attended
by a large number of the A. O. of
United Workman and the comrades of
the G. A. R. The last named order
had charge of the last ceremonies.
Rev. T. N. Cook preached a short
discourse at the home and also held a
short service at S. C. Sander's house
before leaving there.
