Iola I. Jensen, 95, of West Union, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Center, West Union, following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at West Union United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Keele Kober officiating.

Burial was in the West Union Cemetery. Pall bearers were Joe Moschel, Paul Richards, Kim Dummermuth and Denny Dummermuth.

Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements.

Iola Imogene (Dummermuth) Jensen was born March 16, 1914, in West Union to Albert Chris and Effie Pearl (Conner) Dummermuth.

She graduated from Elgin High School and attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, where she received her teacher's certificate.

Iola taught school for a short time.

On Sept. 22, 1931, she was united in marriage with George Donald Jensen in Galena, Ill. Two children, Marilyn and Collin, were born to this union. Iola was a homemaker and also helped Don with farming.

She was a member of West Union United Methodist Church, where she was active in the UMW and her circle.

Iola did volunteer work at the Good Samaritan Center in West Union for many years. She enjoyed antiquing, cards, dominoes, and spending time with her family and friends. Iola will be deeply missed by her loving family.

Preceding Iola in death were her parents; her husband, Don Jensen; a grandson, Paul Johnson; a son-in-law, Chester Johnson; a daughter-in-law, Joan Jensen; and four siblings, Eldred Dummermuth, Eva Moschel, Kay Andre and Opal Fay.

Survivors include two children, Marilyn Jensen Johnson of Quincy, Calif., and Collin Jensen of West Union; seven grandchildren, Eric Johnson, Scott Johnson, Kristine (Steve) VanWinkel, Aimee Jensen (Bryan) Larson, Jennifer Jensen (Jeff) Bunn, Rhett (Amy) Jensen and Benjamin (Lisa) Jensen; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Daryl (Wanda) Dummermuth of Tulare, Calif.
