Funeral services for Ivanelle L. "Toni" Ganske, 82, of West Union, Iowa, will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union. The Rev. Stacey Nalean-Carlson will officiate.

Visitation was set for 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Burnham-Wood.

Burial will be in the West Union Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Eric Halverson, Roy Guenther, Kent Long, Dennis McElree, Joe Miller and Mark Lauer.

Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union, is handling the arrangements.

Toni died of age-related causes on Friday, May 8, 2009, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union.

The daughter of Antone and Mildred (Erving) Haas, Ivanelle LaVerle (Haas) Ganske was born May 5, 1927, in Maynard.

She was a graduate of Maynard High School.

On May 4, 1947, Toni married David Ganske at the Lutheran Church in Maynard. Three sons were born to this union.

After David's death in 1971, Toni operated a child day-care service from 1978 to 1980 at the Area I school in Calmar. She also worked for Frey's Amusements for a year and a half, was a partner in the Friendly Tavern in West Union in 1984-85, and was owner/operator of the Sundown Lounge from 1986 to 1990.

Toni was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 15 and was a former member of Eastern Star.

In addition to her husband, David, Toni was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Gary in 2003 and Steve in 2006.

She is survived by her son, Donald "Red" Ganske of West Union; a grandson, Chase Ganske of West Union; two granddaughters, Kee Ann Rempt of Decorah and Amy Richards of Rock Falls, Ill.; and two great-grandsons, Cole and Dylan Rempt.
