Arlene Ruckdashel, 84, of Clermont died at her home Tuesday, April 28, 2009, following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 1, at West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont. The Rev. Dwight Albers officiated.

Burial was in God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont.

Arrangements were handled by Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clermont.

Arlene (Johnson) Ruckdashel was born March 1, 1925, in rural Clermont to Henry and Elvira (Rowland) Johnson.

After her graduation from Clermont High School in 1943, Arlene worked at Chamberlains in Waterloo for a time.

On Aug. 12, 1945, she was united in marriage with Merle Ruckdashel at West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont. Two children were born to this union. Merle and Arlene farmed together in rural Elgin.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle Ruckdashel, in 1999; three brothers, Allen Johnson, Howard Johnson, and DeWayne Johnson.

Survivors include two children, Sharon (Dick) Hartley of Trona, Calif., and Phil (Jaynee) Ruckdashel of Elgin; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Linda) Johnson of Clermont.
