Funeral services for Roland K. Gray, 87, of Postville, Iowa, will be held today (Wednesday) at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, with Greg Hamm officiating.

Burial will follow in the Postville Cemetery, Postville. Casket bearers will be Keith Meyer, Doug Ruckdaschel, Walter Fong, Steven Ruckdaschel, David Ruckdaschel, and Gerald "Pete" Meyer.

Visitation was set for Tuesday, May 5, from 4-7 p.m. at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Postville, and one hour before services today at the church.

Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville is handling the arrangements.

Roland died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Barthell Eastern Star Home in Decorah.

Roland Keith Gray, son of Keith and Louise (Schultz) Gray, was born Sept. 22, 1921, in Postville.

He was afflicted with polio at the age of 4.

After his 1939 graduation from Postville High School, Roland attended the University of Iowa.

He married Helen Meyer on April 12, 1950.

Roland was employed as a bookkeeper at Postville Farmers Co-op Creamery for approximately 20 years. He was the Postville Board of Education secretary and the business manager at Postville Community Schools for 22 years. He retired in 1984.

Roland was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen, in 2007; his brother, Earl (Connie) Gray; and a nephew.

Roland is survived by his nieces and nephews.
