William Herman Bottleman 1870-1957

William Herman Bottleman was
born at Clayton Center Aug. 9,
1870, the son of Henry and Minnie
Bottleman. He grew to manhood
in Clayton county and on
Nov. 3, 1892, was united in marriage
to Mary M. Zeuch of Strawberry
Point.
To them were born twin daughters,
Mrs. Minnie Harriet Whitman
who died 33 years ago, and Mrs.
Matie Margarette Coonrod of Oelwein.
One son, Charles died in infancy.
Mr. Bottleman had made his
home in Oelwein for the past 36
years, working first as a laborer at
the Chicago Great Western railroad,
and later as night watchman.
He was a member of the Lutheran
church and for 63 years a
member of the Woodmen of the
World.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, who died Oct. 11, 1944, and
by a half brother, Henry.
He is survived by his daughter,
Mrs. J. C. Coonrod: Charles Lauden,
half brother of Waterloo; two
grandsons, Lorain H. Coonrod, Des
Moines; and Lloyd Whitman, Sycamore,
Ill.; four great grandchildren, Ricky James
and Cathy Ray Coonrod, Des Moines,
and Peggy Ann Coonrod, Clermont, Fla.
Mr. Bottleman had been ill for
sometime, and for the past nine
months had been confined to the
Fayette county hospital. He died
Dec. 25, 1956 at the age of 86
years and five months.
Services were held Dec. 27 at 2
p. m. at the Brant funeral chapel,
Dr. M. B. Green of Grace Methodist
church officiating. Burial was
made at Woodiawn.
