Services for Frances Blockhus, 67, were held Thursday, Aug 22, at 2pm in Zion Lutheran Church. Burial was in the West Union Cemetery. Burnham-Wood funeral home was in charge of the arrangements.

Frances died Monday, Aug 20, 1996 in Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse, Wis, after a sudden illness.

Frances Genevieve (Kleppe) Blockhus was born Jan 12, 1929 to Fred and Gladys (Helgerson) Kleppe in Dover township. She was baptized March 29, 1929 and confirmed June 4, 1944 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Ossian.

On Aug 24, 1947 Frances was united in marriage to Arthur Clarence Blockhus at Bethany Lutheran Church. Three children were born to this union.

Frances worked as a nurse's aid at the Good Samaritan in West Union for six years and as a laundry aid at Prairie View (Formerly Fayette County Farm) for 17 years. She had been a long-time member of St Olaf Church, West Union, and at the time of her death she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a member of Ruth Circle.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Kleppe; her husband, Arthur in 1965.

Frances is survived by her mother, Gladys Kleppe; two daughters, Judy Eberhart, West Union, and Janet Borsheim, Decorah; a son, James, Allison; a sister, Lavonne Osmundson, West Union; three brothers, Leslie Kleppe, Gordon Kleppe and Bernell Kleppe; and eight grandchildren.
