Ellen Charlotte Strong was born
In Woodstock, Vermont, July 14, 1851
and died at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. William H. Leese, in Algona;
August 17, 1929, aged 78 years, one
month and three days.
At the age of three she came with
her parents to Illinois and later to
Iowa, living near Fairbank.
She was married to Henry A. Wells,
October 28, 1873. To this union were
born five children, one son dying in
infancy. The four remaining are ---
Mrs. Mabel E. Casteel of Redvale, Colo.,
Mrs. Lucy M. Leese of Algona, Mrs.
Alma F. Horton of Monrovia, California
and Frances M. Wells who has been at
home with her mother. There are also
two brothers who survive -- John P.
Strong of Marshalltown and William O.
Strong of Omaha, Nebraska.
After her marriage she lived on a
farm in Fayette county until 1891 and
the family moved to Sumner. In 1910
they moved to Hazleton where she
resided until recently when she went to
Algona to live with her daughter. Her
husband preceded her in death fourteen
years ago.
At an early age she untied with the
United Brethren church and while in
Hazleton has been a member of the
Methodist Episcopal church. She was
always an active and faithful worker as
long as her health would permit. She will
be missed by her family and large circle of
friends.
Her pastor, Rev. W. H. Smith had charge of
the funeral services which were held
