Henry Albert Wells was born Feb.
21, 1847 at Pittsfield, Mass., and died
in Chicago, July 5, 1915, aged 68 years
4 months and 12 days. When a boy he
came with his father to Iowa in 1856,
settling in Buchanan county, in
which vicinity he spent the remainder
of his life. He was married to Ellen
C. Strong at Fairbank, Oct 28, 1873.
To this union were born five children,
Albert John, a son died at the age of
eight months. His wife and four daughters
still survive him. They are
Mabel E. Carder, of Red Vale, Colo.;
Lucy M. Leese, of Sanborn, Iowa;
Alma F. Bennett, of Lake Preston, S. D.;
and Frances M. at home. He also leaves
one brother and four sisters.
About six months ago Mr. Wells was
discovered to be in failing health and
about three weeks ago he submitted
to an operation in a hospital in Chicago
hoping to obtain relief, but it
was not successful. Mr. Wells made
many friends. His good life made
high place for him in the esteem o
everyone who knew him. The funeral
services mere held from the M. E
church Thursday morning at ll:00
o'clock and was very largely attended
by relatives and old friends who had
learned to love Mr. Wells for his true
worth. The interment was in the
