Leonard G. Waterman, 81, of Waterloo, formerly of Oelwein, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.
He was born Nov. 20, 1926, in Oelwein, son of George and Thelma Troupe Waterman. He married Alice F. Watson on July 18, 1948, in Oelwein.
Mr. Waterman was employed as a butcher at Rath Packing Company for 39 years, then at Farmland in Cedar Rapids, and finally at Kramer's in LaPorte City before retiring. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.
Survived by: his wife; a son, Dave of Waterloo; a brother, Lyle (Karen) of Nashua; three sisters, Violet (Merlwin) Lindner of Nashua, Eileen Cue of Oelwein and Virginia Winter of Shell Rock; two grandchildren, Josh Waterman and Maria Weaver; and two great-granddaughters, Samantha Waterman and Tessa Weaver.
Preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Russ; and a brother, Orville.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Waterloo, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
