WEST UNION -- Amelia Lape, 72, of West Union, died Sunday, Sept. 21, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, of a sudden illness.

She was born Oct. 13, 1935, in Margarette, Pa., daughter of Joseph Pauvlik and Frances Benko. She married Robert Lape Sr. on March 3, 1962, at St. Florian Catholic Church, United, Pa.

She graduated from Xavier High School, Latrobe, Pa., and from Seton Hill College, Greensburg, Pa., with a degree in nursing. She received her master's in nursing from the University of California in Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Lape was a nurse for 35 years, retiring in 2000.

Survived by: her husband; two sons, Robert Jr. (Renee) of West Union and Joseph (Jennifer) of Mount Pleasant, Pa.; a daughter, Le Ann Lape of Mount Pleasant, Pa.; three grandchildren; a brother, Thomas (Eileen) Pauvlik of Maidville, Pa.; and a sister, Jean (Michael) Pauvlik Helmke of North Brook, Ill.

Services: will take place later this week at St. Florian Catholic Church, United, with burial in Westmoreland County Memorial Park Cemetery, Greensburg.
