FAYETTE -- Geraldine May Roberts, 81, of Fayette, died at home Monday, Sept. 15, following a sudden illness.

She was born June 29, 1927, in rural Fayette, daughter of Walter Herman and Hazel Foot Jarchow. She married Dale Edward Roberts on July 13, 1947, in West Union. He died Aug. 4, 2006.

Mrs. Roberts graduated from Fayette High School in 1945, then worked as a merchandise receiving clerk at the Montgomery Ward Store, Oelwein. She and her husband farmed southeast of Fayette for many years until 1983. She was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Fayette.

Survived by: a son, Randy (Lisa) of Fayette; two daughters, Carol (Arthur) Siviter of Durban, South Africa, and Connie (Larry) Meyer of Strawberry Point; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Merel Jarchow of Shell Rock; and a sister, Jeanette Bossberg of Janesville.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Harrison and Richard "Curly" Jarchow.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Fayette, with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Fayette, with a 4:15 p.m. rosary service and a 7 p.m. Scripture service; visitation also an hour before services Saturday at the church.
