Joseph J. Maas, 55, died at 11
o'clock last night at his home. 111
7th Ave. SW. Services will be at
Sacred Heart church at 9 o'clock
Monday morning, with burial in
Woodlawn. The body will be at the
Hintz Funeral home until the final
rites.
A CGW machinist helper, Mr.
Maas had lived in Oelwein 31
years and was a veteran of World
War I. He was born at Dubuque
June 13, 1891 to Peter and Mary
Galle Maas.
Survivors include his wife,
Frances; two stepsons, Howard
Green of Oelwein and LeRoy
Tadych of Chicago; three step-
daughters, Evelyn Linstrum of
Indianapolis, Mrs. Henrietta Wetherbee
and Mrs. Ethel Sims of
Oelwein. Also surviving are two
brothers, Ben of Oelwein and Louis
of Dubuque: three sisters. Mrs.
Carl Kollenbach of Dubuque,
Magdalyn Maas of New York
City and Dorothy Maas of Chicago.
He was preceded in death
by his first wife. Ruby Green
Maas, his mother and father, two
brothers and a sister.
