Elizabeth M. Folsom Miller
was born August 18, 1893 at
Oelwein the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Hyren Folsom.
She grew up in Oelwein and
graduated from the Oelwein High
School. She taught in rural
schools near Oelwein until 1915.
She was married on August 18,
1915 to Hawley Miller at West
Union. The couple made their
home on a farm west of Oelwein
where they farmed until Miller's
retirement in 1948. After his
death in Nov. 18,1959 Mrs. Miller
continued to live in an apartment
at the farm home.
Mrs. Miller was a member of
Grace United Methodist Church,
Women's Society of Christian
Church, the Philathea Society,
M.L. club and Order of Eastern
Star.
She entered Mercy Hospital in
Oelwein on Sunday, Jan. 30 and
died Thursday, Feb. 3, 1972.
Funeral services were held
Saturday, Feb. 5 at the United
Methodist Church with burial in
Woodlawn Cemetery. The Rev.
Warren Paige officiated.
Pallbearers were Marvin
Kingdon, Lawrence Mc-
Cleery, Albert Neuman, John
Puff, Clair Rau and Amos Lenius.
Hintz Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, her husband, two
brothers and one sister.
Survivors include two sisters,
Alice, Mrs. Milo Frame, and
Helen, Mrs. Harold Kreth, both of
Oelwein and a brother, John
Folsom of Cedar Falls.
