OBITUARY.—Mrs. Elevia Oakes died
at the home of her granddaughter,
Mrs. Olmstead in this city April 21st
She was born in Lycoming county
Pennsylvania, December 25th, 1814
She was married in November, 1837
Moved from Pennsylvania to Illinois
in 1849, and came to Oelwein, Iowa
in 1882. She was the mother of seven
children, four of whom are living to
mourn her loss, with their devoted father.
In early life she experienced religion
and united with the Presbyterian
church and in 1850 with the
Baptist church in which she lived
true Christian life. The funeral took
place in the Freewill Baptist church
Friday, April 24th, Rev. C. H. Moxie
officiating.
