FAIRBANK — George Henry
Betts was horn July 24, 1881, the
son of Charles and Phoebe Betts,
and died at his home in Fairbank
Thursday, Sept. 20.
March 23, 1905, he married Mabel
Coffin. He was employed by
the Chicago Great Western railway
for 32 years in the maintenance
department as a carpenter.
Survivors include his wife and
one son, Kenneth, Fairbank. Also
two grandchildren, Howard and
Karen, and one nephew, Earl
Betts, Oelwein. His parents, a
brother, Joe, and sister, Mayna,
preceded him in death.
Services were held in the Methodist
church, of which he was a
member, Sunday, Sept. 23, the Rev.
William Tracy officiating. Music
was by Mrs. Burnett Trower, who
accompanied Carolyn Rechkemmer
and Alice and Florence Ford
as they sang. Flowers were in
charge of Mrs. Kyle Phillips, Mrs.
Dorothy Nourse and Mrs. Lawrence
Ford. Burial was in the Fairbank
cemetery.
Pallbearers were Earl and Ralph
Bells, Lawrence and Gene Chase,
Arlie Martin and Fred Moats.
