Harriet Marinda Elwell, deceased,
was born in Wethersfield, Genesee
county, N. Y. Feb. 15. 1816 and died
at her home near Oelwein, Fayette
county, Iowa. Jan. 23, 1909. being
therefore 93 years 11 mouths and 8
days of age at the time of her death.
All of her maiden life was spent in
New York state where at the age of
nineteen yeara she was united in
marriage to Daniel Shader from
Dutchess county of the same state.
Five children were born to this union,
two of whom with her loved and devoted
husband and aged parents, three
brothers and one sister have preceded
her to those mystic shores of the great
beyond whence no traveler evermore
returns; in her heavenly home with
the Master whom she has served so
faithfully and well she awaits the
coming of the dear ones on earth
whose mission in life is as yet unfilled
The living are Charles and Edward of
San Francisco, Cal. and George the
youngest who has stayed at home and cared
for his parents in their declining years,
together with six grandchildren and one
sister who are left to mourn her loss
besides a host of friends and neighbors
whom all highly esteemed and honored her.
