Sarah Ann Short was born in Devonshire,
England, July 4, 1830 and
died at Her home Stanley, Iowa,
May 1, 1911.
She was married to Mr. Richard
White at Plymouth, England in 1851.
After six years they emigrated to
the province of Ontario, Canada.
They came to the United States
in 1887 and settled; near Stanley,
Iowa. After a few years they moved
to a farm near Hazleton where
they lived till the death of Mr. White
since which time she has made her
home in and near Stanley with the
exceptions of one year in Ocean
Park, Cal. Seven children were born
to them, two of whom Alfred and
Fannie died in Canada. Five Mrs.
Elizabeth Short, Archie and Fred of
Stanley James White of Ocean Park,
Cal., and Richard White of Thorpe,
Iowa, remain to mourn the loss of
their mother.
Upon her arrival in the country she
united with the Methodist Episcopal
church and continued to the time of
her death faithful.
She lived to a ripe age and was
waiting in readiness for the summons
of the King on high.
She obeyed his command in her youth.
She lived for Him all her lifetime
and in the end she was ready to go.
