OELWEIN- Dorothea P. (Dorothy) Lau, 91, died Monday afternoon
Oct. 28, at Oelwein Healthcare Center, Oelwein, after a sudden illness
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Zion Lutheran
Church with the Rev. Phyllis Wolkenhauer officiating.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the:
Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, and for one,
hour before the services at the church onFriday. Burial
will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Hazleton. '
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
Survivors include four daughters: Alverda (Barney)
Ohl, Oelwein; Marlene (Joseph) Ciminera, Walnut
Creek, Calif.; Wanda Luther, St. Paul; and Dorine
(Melvin) Keatley, Inver Heights,Minn.; and five sons:
Lelan, Seattle, Wash.; Alvin (Janie) Seattle; Clinton Lau
(Lynda) Lau and Gary (Ruth) Lau, all of Oelwein. Thirty-four grandchildren,
36 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Esther McLaury Fairbank.
also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clinton Lau
Sr., who died Oct. 1, 1989; a son, Aaron Lau; four grandchildren; eight
brothers; and five sisters.
She was born Dorothea Paulina Augusta Fink, Dec. 14, 1904, in rural
Fairbank, the daughter of August and Emilia Frederick Fink. She married
Clinton Hanson Lau Sr.June 24,1926, at Fairbank. She was a homemaker
and longtime Oelwein resident. She was a member of Zion Lutheran
Church and the Do-Day Quilting women's group at the church.
