Carl Oscar Wait was born Sept.
21, 1904 at Marion, the. son ,of
William James Wait and Flora
Hoyt Wait. Carl was married to
Effie Henderson in Rowley on
Jan,14, 1925, and they moved to
Oelwein in 1931. Most, of his years
he worked at the Preston Lumber
Company. He was an active
member of the First Baptist
church, serving as a Deacon, Sunday
School teacher and superintendent,
singing in the choir and
serving in-many other ways. Carl's
Christian faith- was, evident W
both church and community.
Carl was preceded in death by
son, Loren Lee; a daughter Flora
Lucille; his parents and a sister.
Survivors include his wife; Effie,
Oelwein; five daughters: Mrs.
Charles (Mary) Zanatta, Oelwein;
Mrs. Merle (Betty) Unkrich, Winfield,
la.; Mrs. Robert (Katherine)
Williams, Crawfordsville; Mrs.
Gary (Lucille) Hullinger, Waverly;
Mrs. Dean (Deanice) Nichols, Hazleton;
and three sons, Donald,
Des Moines; Ronald (Dick), Rock
Island, 111.; William James, Waterloo;
23 grandchildren; two-brothers,
Roy, Astoria, Ore.; and,Chester,
Ontario, Calif; one sister,
Mrs. Grace McKain, Daytona
Beach, Fla.
Burial was in Wilson Cemetery
at Independence.
Casket bearers were Mac Hatch,
George R. Dewees, Lloyd Froning,
Earl Ingamells, Everett Allen, Morris
0. Nelson and. Kirk Garrison.
