Ida Cheney Beck (1878-1929)

Ida Almira Cheney, daughter of George and Mary Cheney, was born in Fayette county, Iowa, October 18, 1878 and died at her home in Independence June 14, 1929. At the age of 5 years she moved to Nebraska with her parents and there she grew to womanhood and obtained her education. In September, 1893, she was united in marriage with Adolph Beck. In 1894 they moved back to Buchanan county and had lived in this vicinity until her death. To this union were born twelve children, Mrs. Angie Goodwin, George and Fred of Independence, Mrs. Eva Boone, of Aurora; Mrs. Ellen Cronin of Decorah; John Abraham, who died at the age of 9 years; Mrs. Alta Butters of Independence; Joseph, Henry, Burnita, Milo and Leonard, all at home. There are seven grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her death three brothers, Amasa W. of Long Prairie, Minn.; Henry W. of Sauk Center, Minn.; and Lester D. of Independence. She was a faithful and loving wife and mother. She leaves a host of relatives and friends.
The out-of-town relatives to attend the funeral were: Mrs. Linn Boone, Aurora; Mrs. Frank Cronin, daughter and her family, of Decorah; Amasa W. Cheney, a brother, of Long Prairie, Minn; Lester D. Cheney, brother and family, of Castleville; Guy A. Cheney, a nephew, and family of Long Prairie, Minn.
Burial was made in Otsego cemetery, northeast of Hazleton. Funeral services were held from the Wesleyan Methodist Church Friday afternoon at 1:30, Rev. Sister Griffin officiating.
