Fairbank, la.—Dale, three year old
son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin
Lehmkuhl, was killed instantly
Thursday about 11:30 am when
he was struck by a freight train
near the railroad bridge near town,
The brakeman saw the child and
blew the whistle. The train was
stopped as soon as possible, and
the brakeman ran back, but the
boy was dead when found, with
the back of his head crushed.
Four children were playing on
the track, but the others could give
no account of how the accident
happened.
Dale's father is one of the proprietors
of the Lehmkuhl hardware
store.
He is survived by his parents,
two sisters, Geraldine and Lynda;
his paternal grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. William Lehmkuhl, and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Cummings, all of Fairbank.
