LARRY STAHR

Larry Stahr, 66, of West Union, died January 16, 2003 at the Good Samaritan Home in West Union, Iowa, following a short illness. Services were held on Tuesday, January 21, 2003, at Burnham-Wood Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Hugdahl officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Larry Stahr was born December 15, 1936 at West Union, the son of Lawrence and Hope (Brooks) Stahr. In his younger days Larry mowed lawns and worked as a pin setter at the old bowling alley which is now the school bus garage. He worked for 10 years for Big Gain Feed Co. in West Union, 10 years for Goodwill in Oelwein, and 8 years at Prairie View Care Center. He lived in his own home until he became ill in November and entered the Good Samaritan Home in West Union.

Larry enjoyed collecting records, radios and old push type lawn mowers. He worked hard and was always proud of the fact that he had a job and was able to live by himself. His family has many fond memories and will miss him very much.

He is survived by 6 brothers, Douglas (Mary) Stahr of Sherrill, IA, Allen (Carol) Stahr of West Union, Tommy (Janet) Stahr of Hawkeye, Steve (Pam) Stahr of Elkader, Rodney Stahr of Rockford, IL, and Mark (Jacque) Stahr of Hawkeye; 2 sisters, Judy (Allan) Schnuelle of Castalia and Laurie (Ben) Cutsforth of Waucoma; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in infancy.
