A Parish Rosary for Helen Skelton was held Monday, January 20, 2003, at 7:00 p.m. at Schutte's Clermont Funeral Chapel in Clermont. Inurnment in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery at Clermont, will take place at a later date. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements.

Helen Mary (nee Gerner) Skelton, the daughter of Norbert B. Gerner and Marie (nee Kreul) Gerner, was born July 2, 1931, at Janesville, Wisconsin. She passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2003, in Mercy Medical Center at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She had reached the age of 71 years, 6 months, and 13 days.

Helen graduated from the Clermont High School and went on to attend one year of business school. She spent most of her life in Clermont, but lived in Marion, Iowa for a short time and then moved to Elgin, Iowa, where she worked for Atwood Manufacturing in West Union. Helen lived at Eagle Ridge near Clermont and then moved to the Northbrook Care Center in Cedar Rapids in April of 2002.

Surviving are three daughters, Anita Skelton and Mary Skelton, both of New York, and Deborah Skelton of Hiawatha, Iowa, three grandchildren, Daniel Pacheco, Theodore Brown, and Brandon Santana, and a sister, Mrs. Michael (Joan) Joyce of Denver, Colorado.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Gerner.

Helen was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Clermont, St. Ann's Circle and the Rosary Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary of Clermont.
