Charles Henry Rohrig, son of Henry and Elizabeth Rohrig, was born at Solon, Iowa, March 20, 1871. He was baptized in the Lutheran Church at Solon on May 26, 1878.

As a boy he moved with his parents and brothers and sisters to Fontana, Kansas. There he attended the rural school near his home. He took the Iowa State Teachers' examination at Independence, Iowa, November 25, 1983 and thereafter taught the grade school at Stanley, Iowa.

Later he attended the Emporia State Normal School in Kansas. He then worked and studied law in a lawyer's office and after two years wrote and passed his bar examinations. He was admitted to the bar in several states and practiced law in Iowa for fourteen years.

He was united in marriage with Miss Olga Heise at Oelwein, October 25, 1899. Pastor Zeilinger officiated at the wedding ceremony. To this happy union were born two daughters, Ruby and Esther and a son, Carl.

In 1914 the family moved to a farm four miles northwest of Oelwein. Here Mr. and Mrs. Rohrig lived until February, 1939 when they retired from the farm and moved to the house of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Webb, southwest of the city. There they lived until last November when, because of the ill health of both, they went to live with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Buenneke at Maynard.

Mr. Rohrig's health gradually failed since last November and on June 30 of this year he was taken to Mercy Hospital, Oelwein. There he passed from this life at six o'clock Thursday evening, July 19, 1945. He attained the age of 74 years, 3 months and 29 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters. One sister, Mrs. Dora Matthews and one brother, Joseph Rohrig, died shortly before his own death.

He is survived by his beloved wife; his three children, Mrs. George Buenneke of Maynard, Iowa; Mrs. H. O . Radke of Washington, D. C. and Carl Rohrig of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Irene and Barbara Buenneke; one sister, Mrs. Caroline Eastwood of Fontana, Kansas; and one brother, William Rohrig of Colorado.
