Helen E. Reierson

Helen Elvina Reierson, 103, of the Good Samaritan Home in Postville, died there Thursday.

Services were Saturday at Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder, conducted by Rev. William Palmquist. Funeral arrangements were by Muehlethaler Funeral Home, Elgin.

Casket bearers were Brian Reierson, Brad Reierson, Roger Reed, Realto Wold, Clifford Wold and Burdette Wold.

She was born Jan. 23, 1883 in Wagner Township, Clayton County, the daughter of Ole and Kari Wold. She was educated in a rural school there and attended a seamstress school in Decorah. She then became a professional seamstress for several years.

She was baptized and confirmed at Norway Lutheran Church, St. Olaf. On June 20, 1912 she married Louie Oscar Reierson. The couple had 2 children, Marjorie and Randolph.

The couple farmed all their lives until retiring and living in Elgin. Both became residents of the Good Samaritan Home in 1979.

She was a life-long member of the Marion Lutheran church, Gunder, and very active in it. She did custodial work, was involved with the Ladies Dorcas Society and ALCW. She quilted for church bazaars and sang in the church choir for 50 years.

Survivors include her husband, Louie; her daughter, Mrs. Harvey (Marjorie) Paulsen and her son Randolph, both of Elgin; 5 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters: Andrew Wold , Olavus Wold, Theodore Wold, Mary Wold , John Wold, Ruth Wold and Ben Wold.
