Cornelius Reierson

Funeral services were held at the Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder, Friday, October 8, 1971 at 1:30 p.m. for Cornelius Reierson, who died October 5 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, following a heart attack. The Rev. Robert Henriksen officiated.

Cornelius, son of Reier and Maren (Olson) Reierson, was born July 21, 1890 in Marion township. He was baptized and confirmed at the Marion Lutheran church where he remained an active life long member.

January 8, 1916 he was united in marriage to Millie Skarshoug. They had two sons, Mervin and Lloyd. Millie died April 4, 1923. On May 5, 1926 he married Martha Tollefson. They had one son Joseph.

Mr. Reierson spent his life on the Reierson homestead east of Elgin until 1956 when he moved to Elgin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Ruth) Kirkeberg and a grandson Mark.

Surviving are his wife Martha; three sons, Mervin, Lloyd and Joseph, all of Elgin;
7 grandchildren; a brother Louie of Elgin and a sister Mrs. Mary Wold of Waterloo and many nieces and nephews.

Interment was in the church cemetery.
