Funeral services for Amy Meyer Reid were held Friday, September 25, 1998, at 1:30 p.m. in the West Clermont Lutheran Church at Clermont, Iowa. The Rev Russell Cryedt officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in God's Acre Cemetery near Clermont.

Amy (Nelson) Meyer Reid, the daughter of John and Ingaborg (Nelson) Nelson was born April 10, 1907 on a farm in Clermont Township, Fayette County, near Clermont, Iowa. She died Tuesday, September 22, 1998 in the Madrid Home at Madrid, Iowa. She had reached the age of 91 years, five months, and 12 days.

She was baptized as an infant and confirmed in the West Clermont Lutheran Church.

She attended the rural school near her home. On September 10, 1921 she was married to Harvey Meyer. To this union three children were born, Ilo Mae, Harlo, and Wanda. They lived on the home farm for three years, then moved to the Castalia area. They then lived on a Larabee farm near Clermont for eleven years, and finally returned to the home farm. In 1961 they built a house in Clermont. Harvey died in 1980.

Amy was married to John Reid on February 14, 1989, and they lived in Apache Junction, Arizona. John died in August of 1989. Amy lived in Apache Junction in the winter and spent her summers in the homes of her children. About three years ago she went to live with her daughter Wanda at Cambridge, Iowa. On March 2, 1998 Amy became a resident of the Madrid Home.

She is survived by one son, Harlo Meyer of Sac City, Iowa, two daughters, Ilo Mae Becker of Clermont, and Wanda (Ed) Kamp of Cambridge, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, Julie Grant, Becky Pedersen, Terry Becker, Donna (Sam) Becker, Kerrin Meyer, Anna Anderson, Jason Meyer, Cindy Paeth, Mike, Don and John Kamp; 10 great-grandchildren, Tracy, Kelly, Casey, and Cody Grant, Aaron, Amy, and Jenny Pedersen, Justin Day, Ashley and Katelynn Paeth; two brothers, Millard (Myrtle) Nelson, Sr. of Postville, IA, and Elmer (Ruth) Nelson of Corcoran, WI; two sisters, Irene Wolf and Ethel (Al) Wilbur, and a sister-in-law, Clarice Nelson, all of West Union, IA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Harvey Meyer and John Reid, a son-in-law Charles Becker, three brothers, William Nelson, Art Nelson, Joe Nelson, three sisters, Rose Mauer, Nora Loftsgard, and Edna Nelson.

Amy was a member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont and WELCA.

Casket bearers were Terry Becker, Jason Meyer, Kim Grant, John Kamp, Kerrin Meyer, and Don Kamp.
