Louise Busse Winter (1885-1971)

Louisa Winter was born May 25,1885 at Sherrills Mound, Iowa the daughter of Ignatz and Henrietta Marihart.

She was baptized and confirmed in the German Presbyterian church at Sherills Mound. On June 9, 1906 she was united in marriage to Carl Busse of Littleton. Three daughters were born to them; Myrtle, Lydia and Ruth. They moved to Oelwein in 1927 where they lived on a farm north of town until 1946. They moved into Oelwein that year and resided at 119 Seventh Avenue, S. E.

They joined the Presbyterian church in Oelwein in 1927. Mrs. Winter's husband Carl, died in 1949. Later she married Howard Winter in Wheeling, Illinois.

She died at Mercy Hospital, Oelwein, on December 15 at the age of 86.

She is survived by two daughters; Lydia (Mrs. Charles Winter of Wadena) and Ruth (Mrs. Eldo Brockman of Westgate) and 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard and her daughter Myrtle.

Services were held Saturday, December 18, 1971 at the Hintz Funeral Home, Oelwein. The Rev. Richard B. Emery officiated. Mrs. William Hoffman was at the organ and Lawrence Hurd sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art".

Casket bearers were Theodore Winter, Kenneth Winter, Francis Winter, Rolf Brockman, Ronald Brockman and Joel Brockman. Burial was in Littleton, Iowa.
