The death of Mrs. John Ellis occurred at the family home on Frederick street Monday afternoon at about 3 o'clock after suffering for nearly three weeks from severe burns received from an accident with a gasoline stove, June 6. She was apparently recovering from the shock of the burns which were severe till Thursday when she became much worse, and breathed her last Monday afternoon. Services were held at the home this morning at 9 o'clock and the remains were taken to the U. B. church in Fremont township where services will be held this afternoon at 1 o'clock followed by interment in the Greenwood cemetery near the church.

Martha A. Teers was born in Smith county, January 1875 and came to Iowa with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Tift in 1883. With them she resided on the family homestead in Fremont township, Fayette county, and in 1893 was married. She was subsequently divorced and in November 1898 she was united in marriage to John Ellis who survives her. They came to Oelwein in 1901 where Mr. Ellis has been employed in the C. G. W. shops.
