Electa H. Ellis (1841-1913)

Mrs. Electa H. Ellis was born in New York state May 3, 1841 and died at her home in Oelwein, Iowa, November 19, 1913. She was married to C. R. Ellis September 7, 1862. Her husband and six children living to mourn the loss of her death. The children livng are as follows: Mrs. T. G. Huntley of Aldrich, Minnesota; Mr. John Ellis of Oelwein, Iowa; Mrs. W. L Pendergast of Oelwein; Mrs. D. A. Fox of Oelwein; Mrs. C. F. Curtis of Ironton, Minnesota; Mr. Joseph Ellis of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mr. Charles Ellis died in Adams county in April 1900. 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild also mourn her death.

Mrs. Ellis suffered six years or more as an invalid but she was patient and long suffering and when informed that death was near, replied, "I am not afraid to go, but am ready". Her hope was bright.

The funeral services were held in the home Friday, November 21st, at 2 pm. Rev. C. F. McKelvery of the U. B. church of Sumner officiated because of a request that a U. B. pastor officate at her funeral. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Rothhorn, Mrs. R. E. Lease, Miss Miley of Oelwein and Mr. Edard Shepholster came as a choir from Sumner.
