Mary C. Rahe was born in Ripley county, Indiana, October 10, 1864 and departed this life in Oelwein March 2, 1915, aged fifty years, four months and nineteen days.

When a child she came with her parents to Iowa and the family located on a farm eight miles southwest of the present site of Oelwein. There she grew to womanhood and on December 20, 1882, she was united in marriage with Martin E. Anderson. They moved to the western part of Iowa where they remained two and a half years, returning to this section and locating in Bremer county northwest of Fairbank.

Eleven years ago last October they moved to Oelwein which has since been their home. To this union there were born four children, all of whom with the husband and father survive her --- Arthur C., Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Will M., Effie Claire Colomey and Lynn J., of Oelwein. She is also survived by four brothers and three sisters --- John Rahe, of Oelwein, George Rahe, of Hampton, Casper Rahe of Waterloo and Will Rahe of Pendleton, Oregon, Mrs. Lizzie Anderson of Layton, California, Mrs. Adelia Wilson of Dubuque and Mrs. Effie Gable of Port Cobb, Oklahoma.

She was a true wife and mother. For the past fourteen years she has been in ill health and an attack of pneumonia brought about the passing of this good woman.

She united with the church when a young woman and always attended when able to do so. The last services will be held from the Methodist church Friday at 2 pm conducted by Rev. J. P. Van Horn, following which the interment will be in the Oran Cemetery.
