The funeral of Henry Quitmyer was held at the Church of Christ in Arlington Sunday afternoon with the Rev. W. H. Seeley officiating.

Henry August Quitmyer, son of Henry and Sophia Bentz Quitmyer, was born in Putnam township August 9, 1865. On April 2, 1890 he married Josie Derflinger, and after the first year of their married life, the young couple moved to the farm in Putnam township, which has been the family home ever since that time. Quitmyer was a member of the Church of Christ and of the Woodman lodge.

He was active in the farm work in June of this year, when his health began to bother him. About 11 days ago he was taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, where he died in the late hours of September 29, 1949, at the age of 84 years.

Quitmyer was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers. He is survived by four children; Mrs. Vesta Struckman, Oelwein; Mrs. Hazel Manchester of near Arlington; Dale and Darrel at home; one grandson, Marlin Struckman, Oelwein; two sisters, Mrs. Delilah Spangenberg, Dundee and Mrs. Eva Sliter of Long Beach, California; and one brother, Arthur of Oelwein.

Burial was held at Union Cemetery.
