Funeral services for Bess Rudbeck were held Friday, June 1, 1984 at 1:30 p.m. at the Clermont Funeral Chapel in Clermont. The Rev. Tom Parrott of Elgin officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Gods Acres Cemetery.

A memorial service was held Saturday, June 2, 1984 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in Des Moines.

Bess A. Rudbeck, daughter of Elias Hewitt and Mabel (Steward) Appelman, was born Feb. 8, 1901 at Clermont. She died May 28, 1984 at the home of her son, Robert in Draper, UT at the age of 83 years.

She attended the Clermont School and was graduated from Drake University in Des Moines. She had been employed as a Secretary for the State of Iowa in the Auditor's Office in Des Moines.

Bess had been married to Valmah S. White and to this union a son, Robert, was born. After Valmah's death, she was married to Elmer C. Okey and on July 24, 1953 she was married to Thomas B. Rudbeck at Des Moines. Thomas passed away July 25, 1973.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Franz, Lucian, Carl and a brother in infancy.

Surviving are a son, Robert W. Okey and his wife, Joyce, of Draper, UT; a sister, Winnifred A. Young, Witchita Falls, TX; three grandchildren, Ruth Grove of Forest, VA, Carolyn Berry of Stockton, CA and Kris Elson of El Centro, CA; and four great grandchildren, Jacob and Rachel Grove and Erin and Christopher Berry.
