Betty Ruroden dies at Waterloo hospital

Betty Ruroden, 64, West Union, died Saturday morning, Jan. 13, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, following a long illness.

Betty Lorraine Ruroden, daughter of Glen and Hazel (Smith) Knapp, was born on September 23, 1925, in Auburn Township. She died on January 13, 1990, at the age of 64.

She attended elementary school and high school in Fayette County. She was united in marriage to Gordon Ruroden on February 28, 1944. She lived in the West Union area during most of her lifetime. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church.

She is preceded in death by her mother and two sisters.

Betty is survived by her father, Glen Knapp; her husband, Gordon; a son, Harlan, LaCrosse, WI; two daughters: Mary (Mrs. Roger) Burgart, Sumner, and Susan (Mrs. Jeff) Felder, Oelwein; a sister, Katherine (Mrs. Melvin) Ewing, West Union; a brother, Gerald, Des Moines; 10 grandchildren and one great grandson.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1990, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, West Union, with the Rev. Richard Menzel, officiating

Pallbearers were Stan Woodson, Randy, Michael, Danny, and Robert Ruroden and Frank Knapp. Burial was in the West Union Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Burnham and Wood Funeral Home, West Union
