Alvin Ruroden

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, July 21 at 1:30 p.m. at the West Clermont Lutheran Church for Alvin L. Ruroden who died at Palmer Memorial Hospital in West Union, July 18 following a few months illness with cancer. Rev. Clarence Johnson officiated.

Alvin Leonard Ruroden, son of Adolph and Rose (Odegard) Ruroden was born May 17, 1917 at Elgin. He was baptized and confirmed at the Marion Lutheran Church at Gunder. He attended rural schools in Clayton county.

He was united in marriage to Irene Halverson on August 23, 1941. To this union four children were born. He farmed in the Clermont, Postville area for 25 years. Having quit farming he joined the Iowa Golf Course Association and was a golf course superintendent at the Maquoketa Country Club, Maquoketa, and the Wapsi Oaks Country Club at Calamus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Merlin and Tilman, and one grandson, Jeffrey Heins. He is survived by his wife Irene and four children: Dixie (Mrs. Charles Dobbs) of Weeping Waters, Nebraska, Lance Corporal Daryl L. Ruroden, U.S. M. C., El Tora, California, Bonnie (Mrs. Frederick Heins) of Monona, and Karen (Mrs. David Frame) of Fairmont, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Jacke, Cathy and Kevin Dobbs, Douglas and Brandon Heins, Stephanie and Gregory Frame. Also three brothers, Maynard and Clarence of West Union, Kenneth of Wadena; and four sisters, Renetta (Mrs. Barney Larson) and Violet (Mrs. Robert Barker), both of Elgin. Myrtle (Mrs. Nanford Osmundson) of West Union and Thelma (Mrs. Harold Patrick) of Hawkeye. Also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Interment was at Gods Acres Cemetery, Clermont.
