Mary E. Robinson was born in Oneida County, New York, June 12, 1836 and died a the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ida Beck, in Buchanan County, Iowa, January 14, 1911 at the age of 74 years, 7 months, and a day.

She was married December 23, 1851 to Ransford E. Brown in Oswego county, New York. They moved to Iowa. There were three children born to them, Walter Eugene now living in Nebraska, George Emory now living in Idaho and John Oliver who died in Nebraska. Mr. Brown died in 1863 while in the service of his country in the Civil War.

On the tenth of March 1864 she was married in Buchanan county, Iowa to George W. Cheney, who still lives to mourn her loss. To this union five children were born, Amasa William now of Kansas, Henry Washington, Lester DeWitt and Mrs. Ida Beck of Buchanan county, Iowa and Fred P. Cheney deceased. They moved to Nebraska about the year 1884 returning to Iowa in 1894. In her earlier life Mrs. Cheney belonged to the Methodist church but in 1887 she united with the Seven Day Advents. During her life she had been afflicted, having suffered a stroke of paralysis about forty years ago and a severe stoke some six years ago, since which time she has be partially helpless requiring the aid of her loved ones. At the last she passed quietly away from an attack of pneumonia. Besides her many other relatives and friends, she leaves three brothers and one sister, Joseph M. Robinson of Nebraska, Alfred Robinson of Washington, Mrs. Lois A. Rath at Olin and Alvin E. Robinson of Oklahoma.
