Palmyra Adaline Paign Dickinson was born in the town of Madison, Madison county, New York, November 11, 1822. When ten years of age she removed with her parents to Cold Springs, Cattaraugus county in the same state. October 18, 1840, she was married to Asa Dickinson of that place. In 1845 she came with her husband and son Charles then two years old, to Kane county, Illinois, where her husband died November 25, 1878. Her son Charles was a soldier boy and died in the service of his country in 1862. Another son Frank, died at the age of 13 years. In 1881 she with her remaining son, Aden, came to Iowa and purchased the farm 5 miles northeast of Oelwein which place has since been her home and where she died July 14, 1915 aged 92 years, 8 months, and 3 days.

Besides her son Aden and his wife Lucy -- who for nearly 30 years has been her constant companion always patient, kind and faithful and true and strewn with flowers the pathway of her declining years --- there are two grandsons, Ulva and Ray and one great granddaughter. She is survived by two brothers, Allen Paign of Fayette, Foster Paign of Salamanca, New York and several nieces and nephews. She took three children of one niece many years ago and raised them, one of whom, Frank Coleman of Elgin, Illinois, was present at the last services.

The funeral was held at the home Friday afternoon, July 16 at 2 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, J. P. Horn. Interment was made at Otsego cemetery.
