Mrs. Daniel Carvey died at the home of her son Dorie Carvey southeast of here Friday morning, February 7, 1908. The deceased was sixty three years old and besides her son leaves three daughters, Mrs. Mollie Becker, Mrs. Helen Morey of Oklahoma and Mrs. McFee of Idaho. It would be an eloquent pen indeed that could do justice to the life of this beautiful woman. She and her husband came to this country in an early day and bought 160 acres of land. When Mrs. Carvey was about twenty five years old her husband had his neck broken in a threshing machine leaving her six small children and his aged father and mother about seventy five years old. When the things were cleared up she had just forty acres of land left and on this small plot she raised and educated her family, three of them making successful teachers and all of them being a credit to the mother who toiled so patiently for them. Two of her daughters have died within the last two years. The funeral was held at the Prairie Center Church Monday morning conducted by Rev. John Dawson.
