Died - At 7:40 a.m., Tuesday, August 20th, 1889, at his residence two miles southeast of Oelwein, at the age of 69 years, Nathaniel James passed to his eternal rest surrounded by his family and friends. Mr. James was born in Lanark county, Ontario, in 1820, and passed the early portion of his life in the land of his birth. He was married in 1849 to Lavina House of Welland county, Ontario, and it 1856 they emigrated to Fayette county, Iowa, where they have resided continuously, with the exception of three years residence in Illinois. His death is believed to have resulted from injuries inflicted by being thrown from a mower about a month previous to his death. The funeral was held from the house Wednesday at 2 o'clock, services conducted by Dr. Wegh, rector of St. James church at Independence. The remains were conveyed to Otsego cemetery for interment followed by a large concourse of sympathizing and sorrowing friends. He leaves his wife and six children, three sons and three daughters, to mourn hs departure. The sincerest sympathy is manifested for the bereaved relatives.
