Becky L. Wilken Jacobs, 51, formerly of Oelwein, passed away Monday evening, Dec. 24, 2007, at Cedar Valley Hospice, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Becky Lynne Wilken was born Feb. 21, 1956 at Oelwein, the daughter of Leonard and Toni Wilken. She graduated from Oelwein Community High School in 1974. Becky was a nurse’s aide in nursing homes in Marshalltown and Waterloo before ill health forced early retirement.

Becky loved to cook, go out for supper and go shopping. She enjoyed visiting with her many friends, loved a good story and always found something to laugh about. She especially loved her family and caring for her grandchildren, Shavonna and Christopher. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her longtime friend and soul mate Kelly Wagner of Waterloo; her son Cory (Tara) Wilken of Eldora; her grandchildren Shavonna and Christopher; three step grandchildren; her mother, Toni (Bud) Opperman of Strawberry Point; her sister Nancy Bernardi of Cedar Rapids; her brother, Larry Wilken of Des Moines; nieces and nephew Tina Shaffer of Cedar Rapids, Tommy and Jennifer Wilken of Des Moines; and a host of friends and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father and a nephew Anthony Ledesma.
