Walter H. Beall, editor and co-publisher, with his wife, of the West Union Argo-Gazette and The Hawkeye Beacon died in St. Mary's hospital, at Rochester, Minn., Wednesday morning at 12:35.

Mr. Beall had been ill only a short time but for the past year had been failing noticeably. The immediate cause of this death was a meningitis condition starting from an ear infection which developed last Tuesday morning.

He was able to carry on at his office until Thursday morning, when he was confined to his bed. He was taken to Rochester Monday of this week.

Mr. Beall had been publisher of the Argo-Gazette for more than 35 years, and during the last year had also gotten out the Beacon at Hawkeye. He recently celebrated his 50th anniversary in the publishing business, having started in that business at Mt. Ayr, his birth place, more than 50 years ago.

Surviving are his wife, Blanche M. Beall, whom he married in 1921; an adopted son, Laurence, San Jose, Calif., and one grand-daughter and one great-grandson. A brother, Randolph S. Beall, and a sister, Mrs. Eunie Moffatt, Mt. Ayr, also survive.

Funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at the Methodist church and burial will be at Mt. Ayr.
